IIS Castelnovo ne’ Monti is a vocational & technical school in Castelnovo ne’ Monti, Reggio Emilia, in the province of the Po valley in Northern Italy. It is a very strategic place for visiting all the art cities of Northern Italy. Our school has 5 branches: Agricultural and environment, Hotel services and gastronomy, Mechanics, Social services, Tourism. We also have a farm with horses for pet- therapy for disabled students. We have already participated in some Comenius multilateral projects & Erasmus + projects. 

The school is open to everyone and students  attending our school are accepted regardless of social or racial discrimination which is why our student body is comprised of a mixed social environment: disabled students , socially and economically disadvantaged students , those who  have a failure experience in their former school, children of migrant workers with a poor knowledge of the Italian language.

At our institute, they are offered the chance to achieve a successful education through individual learning strategies, so that they are able to develop self-confidence, solidarity and respect. 

The aim of the school, through the work of teaching and non-teaching staff, is to develop professional skills and competences in young people willing to work, being industrious, resourceful and respectful, and to prepare them for real life and labour market. 

Also, we are now supported by the MaB (Man and Biosphere) scientific program because our mountain area was awarded this title thanks to the various acknowledgments received by the National Park of the Appennines (http://www.parcoappennino.it/Eindex.php).

In our area Parmesan Cheese is produced and it is a real treasure, as well as Balsamic vinegar. Our school is very much linked to our territory and we often rely to our traditions. The agricultural section of the school tries to promote sustainability and the protection of the environment.
