Daugavpils Secondary School No.3 is situated in town Daugavpils, region Latgale, in the south-east of Latvia. The city has a favorable geographical position as it borders Belarus and Lithuania (distances of 33 and 25 km respectively). It is located around 120 km from the borderline with Russia.

The school has 840 students and 72 teachers. The teachers are motivated to use innovative methods. They believe that only modern and up-to-date school can attract students and make them interested in getting good education. Currently one of priorities of our school is to implement and strengthen ‘key competences’ – knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will help learners find personal fulfilment and, later in life, find work and take part in society. These key competences include ‘traditional’ skills such as communication in one’s mother tongue, foreign languages, digital skills, literacy, and basic skills in math and science, as well as horizontal skills such as learning to learn, social and civic responsibility, initiative and entrepreneurship, cultural awareness, and creativity.

Our school is the only school in our region which provides a rigorous well-rounded education with a special focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Our students have an increased number of Math, Chemistry, Physics and Biology lessons. We have a lab in our school to make experiments and work on innovations. Our students actively participate in state Olympiads, contests connected with STEM subjects. The development of Scientific Research Works in the field of Science is a good practice in our school. Teachers are trained in the use of ICT. The school provides students with one-to-one technology.

The school has rich traditions such as 1st Day of School celebrations, traditional field trips, sports days, career week, the last bell ceremony, graduation ceremony etc. Our students take active part in student parliament.
