ENVIRONMENT LESSON PLAN

1.PURPOSES

• Promote interest in ecology, the Earth and the environment.

• Understand the problems that humans cause in nature.

• Propose solutions to environmental problems.

•Try to obtain tools to develop sustainable systems.

2. OBJECTIVES

• Study environmental problems.

• Study environmental resources.

• Carry out environmental action.

• Take care of the environment.

3. CONTENTS

• Environmental transversality

  • Relationship with scientific subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Relationship with other subjects such as Social Sciences and Business studies, to deal with the social and economic issue.
  • Relationship with languages to communicate and connect environmental problems globally.
  • Relationships with manual subjects such as theArts, Technology and Computer Science to carry out the advertising study.
  • Relationship with others subjects such as Religious Education, Music, Physical Education and Tutoring to take care of the mind, culture, body and environment.

4. ACTIVITIES

Carry out a transversal project for the third year of secondary school:

-Sciences:

•Use of lunch boxes instead of plastic cling film for lunches

• Classroom cleaning

• Cleaning of natural spaces

-Social and business:

• Simulation with money

•Nearby companies dedicated to recycling.

-Languages:

• Contact NGOs and the City Council to carry out specific actions.

-Art, Technology and Computing:

• Create a corporate image of a TV program

• Make an environmental program and upload it to social networks

-Music, Physical Education, Religious Education and Tutoring:

• Prepare the theme tune of the TV program

• Sustainable hygiene habits

• Study the situation of the Amazon according to the Church

• Coordinate the project.

5. EXAMPLES

The environment conditions our quality of life, so we will provide some examples:

• Food: climate change affects crops. With sustainable food, waste food and resources can be avoided.

• Inadequate management of solid plastic waste produces soil and water contamination and the proliferation of harmful fauna that transmit diseases.

• Emissions of gases such as carbon dioxide which are one of the main causes of global warming.

• Loss of biodiversity due to overexploitation of species by human activity.

• Deforestation of jungles and forests such as the Amazon to expand crops.
