As this is a lab-class, students are expected to adhere to the general rules of a practicum and are each responsible for their wellbeing and safe conduct during the experiment they are to perform.
The objective of this class is to create a better understanding of polymers and more specific nylon. How long can we make a nylon wire with a given amount of material?
step 1: students form a hypothesis based on previous experience with polymers (both practical and theoretical).
step 2: the safety procedures for the experiment are discussed in class
step 3: students prepare the experiment with the regulations for safe experiments in mind
step 4: students begin the experiment
step 5: students ‘compete’ (all within safety regulations) to see who can extract the longest nylon wire
